Anna Tonks

Anna Tonks is an experienced professional in the field of addiction services and public health, currently serving as System Design Manager at Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand since July 2022. Previously, Anna held roles at the Ministry of Health New Zealand from October 2020 to June 2022, including Programme Manager for Addiction and Principal Advisor, where responsibilities encompassed providing specialist advice, leading sector-wide initiatives, and enhancing team capabilities. With a history of impactful positions at the NZ Drug Foundation and Hutt Valley DHB, Anna has effectively led programmes targeting alcohol and drug-related harm while advocating for public health solutions. Academic qualifications include a Master of Science in Health Psychology from Massey University and dual Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Philosophy/Statistics from the University of Otago.
