Zaynab Jaber

Zaynab Jaber, PhD has a diverse work experience that includes roles in both academia and the private sector. Zaynab is currently working as an Assistant Medical Director at Health Science Communications since July 2022 and previously served as a Medical Associate from August 2021 to August 2022.

Prior to their current position, Zaynab worked at the CUNY Advanced Science Research Center from April 2016 to July 2021 as a PhD Candidate and Researcher. Zaynab'sresearch was funded by prestigious grants such as the NIH R01 grant, Early Research Initiative Catalyst Grant, and Doctoral Student Research Grant Award. Zaynab focused on a novel class of blue-light sensing proteins with potential optogenetic applications for light-controlled GPCR regulation and membrane recruitment. Zaynab's primary goal was to solve the structure of this protein using Cryo-EM, which could provide groundbreaking insights into photoreception signaling modes in nature.

Zaynab also gained teaching experience as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at City University of New York City College from January 2017 to January 2019. Additionally, they worked as an SAT instructor at The Princeton Review Lebanon from 2014 to June 2015.

Furthermore, Zaynab's work experience includes a research assistant role at the American University of Beirut from September 2013 to June 2015. During this time, they focused on developing novel nanoparticle formulations of the retinoid ST1926 for colorectal cancer treatment, utilizing nanotechnology to enhance therapeutic efficiency. Zaynab also served as a research assistant, peer tutor, and tutor at Saint Anselm College from 2008 to 2012, where they studied yeast as a model system to understand aneuploidy in human cancers.

Finally, Zaynab's early work experience includes serving as an instructor and mentor at Breakthrough Collaborative from June 2007 to August 2008, where they designed and taught math and biology classes, implemented curriculum, and advised students in academic and interpersonal development.
