Derek Thielsen

Derek Thielsen, CPA has a diverse work experience spanning different industries. Derek began their career as a Sales Associate/Model at Abercrombie & Fitch in 2008 and worked there until 2010. In 2010, they ventured into entrepreneurship and founded PennyAthletics.com, where they served as the CEO and Founder until 2012. As a Finance Intern at Kraft Foods in 2012, Derek worked on various financial analysis tasks. Derek then joined EY in 2013 as an Audit Intern, conducting validation procedures for client financial statements. Derek continued working at EY as an Audit Senior from 2014 to 2017. Since 2017, Derek has been working at Heartland Dental, starting as a Senior Accountant and eventually becoming the Manager and Director of Financial Reporting.

Derek Thielsen, CPA completed their Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Accounting at the Gies College of Business of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 2009 to 2013. Derek further pursued their education and obtained a Masters of Accounting Science with a specialization in Accounting from the same university in 2014.
