Maggie Syme

Maggie Syme has extensive experience in the field of gerontology and psychology. Maggie is currently working as a Project Director at Hebrew SeniorLife since January 2021. Prior to that, they were an Associate Professor and Associate Director of Research at Kansas State University Center on Aging from March 2020 to January 2021, and an Assistant Professor and Associate Director of Research from August 2015 to March 2020. Maggie also worked as a Staff Psychologist at San Diego Va Health Care System from March 2015 to August 2015. Maggie Syme has a background in academia as well, having served as an Adjunct Faculty at the University of San Diego from January 2012 to August 2015, and as a Research Assistant Professor at San Diego State University from August 2012 to May 2015. Maggie also held various roles at SDSU/UCSD Cancer Center Comprehensive Partnership as a Fellow and Adjunct Faculty from 2010 to 2012, and at VA Boston Healthcare System as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Geropsychology and Neuropsychology from 2009 to 2010. Maggie began their career as a Clinical Psychology Intern at VA Long Beach Healthcare System from August 2008 to August 2009.

Maggie Syme has an extensive education history in the fields of psychology, public health, and government analytics. Maggie began their academic journey at Whitworth University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Religion from 1998 to 2002. Following this, Maggie pursued a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology at Gonzaga University, attending from 2002 to 2004.

Continuing their education, Maggie enrolled at The University of Kansas from 2004 to 2009, completing their Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology. During these years, they focused on developing their expertise in the field. Later, in 2010 to 2012, they attended San Diego State University, earning a Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in Epidemiology.

In addition to their academic achievements, Maggie has obtained several certifications to further enhance their professional qualifications. In 2011, they became a Licensed Psychologist in Oregon. Soon after, in 2013, they received their Licensed Psychologist certification in California. In 2015, Maggie obtained a Certificate in Primary Care Behavioral Health from the Center for Integrated Primary Care at UMass Medical School in Worcester.

Always seeking to expand their skill set, Maggie is currently enrolled in a program at Johns Hopkins University Advanced Academic Programs. From 2020 to 2022, they are pursuing a Certificate in Government Analytics, further demonstrating their commitment to professional growth and expertise in their field.
