Johannes Widmer

Senior Expert Integration Engineer at Heliatek

Johannes Widmer has a diverse work experience in the field of organic electronics and photophysical materials. Johannes began their career in 2006 as a Research Student at Vellore Institute of Technology. From 2005 to 2009, they worked as a Network Administrator and later as a Researcher and PhD candidate at the Institut für Angewandte Photophysik (IAPP) - TU Dresden. During this time, they worked on projects related to transport properties and energy levels in organic semiconductors and their application in organic solar cells. Johannes also completed their MSc thesis and PhD thesis in this period.

In 2014, Johannes joined the Dresden Integrated Center for Applied Physics and Photonic Materials (IAPP) - TU Dresden as a PostDoc, where they continued their research work as a physicist, researcher, and project manager. In 2015, they became a Research Group Leader for "New Devices" at IAPP.

In addition to their academic and research roles, Johannes has also worked as a Freelance Lecturer since 2010. Johannes has conducted professional trainings for employees of companies working in organic electronics, specifically on topics such as organic solar cells, organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), and device manufacturing. Johannes has taught at Organic Electronics Saxony and other institutions.

Johannes' most recent work experience is with Heliatek GmbH, where they have been employed since 2016. Johannes initially served as an Integration Engineer until 2018, and then progressed to the role of Senior Expert Integration Engineer in 2019.

Johannes Widmer has a strong educational background in physics. Johannes obtained their Diplom degree, which is equivalent to a Master of Science, from Technische Universität Dresden. Johannes completed this degree from 2002 to 2009. Later, they pursued further education and obtained a Doctorate degree (Dr. rer. nat.) in Physics from the same university, which they completed from 2010 to 2013.

In addition to their formal education, Widmer has also obtained multiple certifications. Johannes participated in the Future Career Program - Business offered by the Graduate Academy at TU Dresden. Johannes also received training in group moderation as a leadership skill from the Graduate Academy. Furthermore, Widmer has received certifications in inter-cultural integration of international students from TU Dresden, printing technologies for functional printing from Organic Electronics Saxony, project management from the Graduate Academy, property rights applications from the Patentinformationszentrum at TU Dresden, and the Ready for the Job certification jointly offered by TU Dresden and Dresden International University.
