Tim Hallner is currently the Controller at Helix. Prior to that, they were the Director of Revenue/COGS Accounting at Flexport from May 2020 to April 2021. Before that, they were the Controller at Helix from April 2019 to May 2020 and Manager, Accounting and Finance at Helix from April 2017 to April 2019.
At Helix, Tim was responsible for designing and implementing accounting processes and systems from the ground up to support the launch of a complex revenue sharing ecommerce business and the growth from 12 to 200+ employees. Tim also owned controllership duties and maintained a 4-day close while managing a lean accounting team by leveraging systems to automate processes. In addition, they completed 3 annual audits with EY while working through complex technical accounting areas such as ASC 606 revenue recognition adoption, ASC 842 lease accounting adoption, purchase accounting and stock-based compensation expense.
At Flexport, Tim was responsible for overseeing all aspects of revenue and COGS accounting. This included ensuring accurate and timely recording of revenue, COGS, and related accruals in accordance with US GAAP. Tim also collaborated closely with other finance team members to ensure that all revenue and COGS transactions were properly captured in Flexport’s financial systems.
Prior to their current positions, Tim was a consultant at EY where they worked on various projects in the technology, media, and telecommunications industries. Tim has also held positions at other companies such as NetSuite and QuickBooks.
Tim Hallner has a MS in Accountancy from San Diego State University and a BS in Electrical Engineering from University of California, Los Angeles.
