Ioannis Kalogeras studied Business Administration at the University of Piraeus and continued his studies at the Maraslio Teaching School of Elementary Education (Diploma in Elementary Education), at Adelphi University, New York, United States (MA in Elementary Education) and at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Bachelor Primary Education).
He initially worked in Primary education in a private institution. From September 1990, he joined the staff of the Hellenic-American Educational Foundation and taught in all elementary grades. From 2009 to 2012 he was Deputy Headmaster, responsible for 5th and 6th grade and from 2012 to 2016 he was Deputy Headmaster, responsible for 1st and 2nd grade. From 2018 to 2021 he was Coordinator of the Primary Years Program of the International Baccalaureate for the 3rd grade. In September 2022, he took over as Director of the Municipal College of Athens.
He is a long distance runner and has participated in 34 Marathons including those in Athens and London.
