Rom Weissman

Rom Weissman has a diverse work experience that spans several industries and roles. Rom started their career in 2006 as a Data Mining Researcher in the Intelligence Corps of the IDF, where they developed software tools for data retrieval and analysis. Rom then became a Data Science Team Leader, leading a team of researchers conducting advanced research in data mining and applied machine learning. Rom led several research projects that were implemented and utilized by analysts and desk heads in the unit.

In 2012, Rom worked as a Data Scientist at Bionic 8 LTD, where they led data science projects to improve a social network search engine. Rom created a ranking algorithm that significantly enhanced the findability of posts and articles.

From 2013 to 2019, Rom worked at Google in various roles. Rom started as a Technology Manager, leading the development of internal sales and sales analytics tools. Rom managed a team of 12 engineers and contributed to the development of sales tools for Google's large business clients. Later, Rom worked as a Data Infrastructure Engineer, conducting analyses and building tools to improve customer satisfaction and reduce costs in Google's support services. Rom utilized Go, Python, and GoogleSql for these tasks. Finally, Rom worked as a Data Science - Daydream UX at Google, focusing on data analysis for the Daydream UX team.

Since 2019, Rom has been working at JoyTunes, initially as a Senior Data Scientist and currently as the Tribe Data Lead. In these roles, they are responsible for leading data-related initiatives and leveraging data to drive business decisions and improve user experience.

In addition to their professional work, Rom founded Top Less Productions, a small non-profit film production group, where they took on various roles such as Founder, Head Writer, and Producer. Rom directed and co-wrote commercials for an Israeli non-profit organization.

Throughout their career, Rom has utilized a range of programming languages and technologies, including Java, Python, Matlab, Solr, MongoDB, Hadoop, HBase, and PLSQL. Rom has demonstrated leadership skills, successfully leading teams and projects, and has achieved notable accomplishments in the field of data science and analytics.

Rom Weissman completed their undergraduate education at Hebrew University from 2003 to 2006, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Physics. Following this, from 2009 to 2011, Rom pursued further education at Tel Aviv University as a Master of Arts student in the field of Film and Television.
