Päivi Alakuijala

Director, Communications at HSL Helsingin seudun liikenne

Päivi Alakuijala has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of communications. Päivi is currently the Director of Communications at HSL Helsingin seudun liikenne since April 2022. Prior to this, they served as a Member of the Board at Jukkatalo Oy from May 2017 to April 2023. Päivi also had an entrepreneurial stint at Linarni from October 2019 to March 2022. Päivi has held interim roles as the Head of Strategic Communications at Fortum from April 2021 to May 2021 and as the Interim Head of Communications at Destia Oy from November 2019 to May 2020. In their earlier career, they held key positions at Caverion as the Vice President of Marketing and Communications from July 2013 to September 2019 and at YIT as the Vice President of Communications from September 2012 to June 2013. Päivi also has a noteworthy tenure at Posti Group Oyj, where they served as the Communications Manager and later as the Vice President of Communications and Corporate Responsibility from February 2004 to September 2012. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Communications Consultant at CW Works Oy and as a Communications Manager at Finnish Food Project Hyvää Suomesta.

Päivi Alakuijala's education history includes a Master's degree in Consumer Economics, Communications, and Marketing from the University of Helsinki, which they obtained from 1987 to 1994. Before attending the University of Helsinki, they completed their Matriculation Examination from Keminmaan lukio in 1983. In addition, they also obtained a Graduate Diploma from West Salem High School in 1984 and 1985.

Päivi Alakuijala has also pursued further certifications to enhance their professional skills. Päivi obtained a certification as a Certified Business Coach from the International Coaching Federation in March 2019. Additionally, they acquired the certification of "Hyväksytty hallituksen jäsen" from Tampereen kauppakamari in May 2021.
