Ioannis Asimakopoulos

Ioannis Asimakopoulos is a Senior Associate at Herbert Smith Freehills since September 2022, previously serving as an Associate at DLA Piper and a Bank Restructuring and Resolution Expert at the Single Resolution Board. As an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Luxembourg, Ioannis teaches EU Banking and Financial Law at both bachelor and master levels, while also contributing as a Research Fellow at Goethe University, focusing on EU bank resolution rules. Additional teaching experiences include roles as a Visiting Lecturer and Junior Lecturer within the LLM course in Banking and Financial Law. Ioannis holds advanced degrees in Corporate Law from the University of Cambridge, International Economics and Finance from Athens University of Economics and Business, and a Ph.D. in Financial Regulation and Bank Resolution from the University of Luxembourg and Max Planck Institute.
