Michael Sommers

Michael Sommers is an experienced finance professional currently serving as General Manager of Portfolio Construction and Risk at HESTA since January 2021. Previously, Michael held the role of Principal Consultant and Head of Alternatives and Derivatives Strategies at Frontier Advisors from February 2013 to November 2020, where responsibilities included investment and fund manager research in various alternative strategies and derivatives. Prior experience includes positions as Executive Director in Market Risk Management at CIBC World Markets, Senior Manager in Market Risk Management at Lloyds Banking Group, and Manager of Credit Risk Management at ANZ. Michael Sommers holds a Master of Applied Finance from Macquarie University and a Bachelor of Commerce with 1st Class Honours and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Melbourne.
