Michael Smith has a diverse work experience in various companies and roles. Michael started their career in 2010 as a Technical Assistant at the Composite Materials and Engineering Center at WSU, where they conducted ASTM tests on composite materials. Michael then worked as a Polymer Nanocomposite Research Assistant at the WSU School of Mechanics and Materials, studying interaction effects on conductivity in polycarbonate film samples.

In 2004, Michael joined Recreational Equipment Inc (REI) as a Sales Specialist, Outdoor School Instructor, and Shop Technician. Michael not only assisted customers with their outdoor gear needs but also taught outdoor school classes, sharing their knowledge and experiences.

In 2012, Michael joined Hexcel Corporation, where they held various roles. Michael started as a Manufacturing Engineer II, responsible for composite structures and materials manufacturing. Michael then became a Production Supervisor and Manufacturing Engineer, overseeing production and customer interaction for a composite tool string. Later, they became a Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor, leading the Manufacturing Engineer team and focusing on safety, quality improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives. Currently, they hold the position of Principal Engineer at Hexcel Corporation.

Throughout their career, Michael has shown a strong background in engineering, manufacturing, and customer service.

Michael Smith earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Material Science and Engineering from Washington State University from 2006 to 2011. In addition, they obtained a Six Sigma Green Belt certification from Hexcel Corporation in 2013 and earned the BSA Eagle Scout certification from the Boy Scouts of America in 2004.
