Mark Cohen

Mark Cohen is the General Counsel at HIAS. Mark has previously served as the Executive Director at the Government Accountability Project and as the President/Executive Producer at THE COFFEE HOUSE. Mark has also worked as a managing editor at Law Reporters Inc.

Mark Cohen is a dedicated public servant who has committed their career to fighting for justice. Mark is a passionate advocate for whistleblowers and has worked tirelessly to protect their rights. Mark is also a respected leader in the media industry, having produced award-winning television shows that have shined a light on important issues facing our society.

Mark Cohen completed their undergraduate studies at the University of Pittsburgh, where they earned a BS in Political Science. Mark then attended law school at Antioch School of Law, where they earned their JD. Finally, they attended Georgetown University Law Center, where they earned their LLM in International and Comparative Law.

Their manager is Mark Hetfield, President and CEO. and Smita Dazzo - Senior Director, Legal & Asylum reports to Mark Cohen. Mark Cohen works with Jessica Reese - Vice President, Institutional Development, Enrique Torrella - Regional Director, Africa & Eurasia, and Brian Kerr - Senior Director, Safety and Security.
