Rachel Levitan serves as the Chief Global Policy and Advocacy Officer at HIAS, where leadership includes advocacy for refugee rights globally and fostering partnerships with major governmental and non-governmental organizations. With over 10 years of experience at HIAS, Rachel has held various significant roles, including Vice President of International Policy and Relations and Vice President of International Programs, where oversight of extensive refugee programs across multiple continents has been crucial. Prior to HIAS, Rachel held positions at RefugePoint, ORAM, and as Co-Founder and Legal Director of Turkey’s first legal clinic for refugees, all while maintaining a strong focus on legal advocacy for marginalized communities. Rachel holds a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University and a Law degree from The University of British Columbia.
