Hiranya "HJ" Jayakody

Hiranya "HJ" Jayakody has a strong background in both research and technology. Hiranya is the co-founder and CTO of HEO Robotics, a role they have held since February 2016. Prior to this, they worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at UNSW from November 2016 to January 2020. Hiranya completed their PhD in Mechatronics Engineering at the University of New South Wales, where they developed a controller for aerial vehicles that was published in the IEEE Conference on Decision and Control in 2014. During their time at the university, they gained hands-on experience in C, C++, embedded system design, electronics, sensor interfacing, real-time control implementation, and Matlab Simulink. Hiranya also worked as a Research and Teaching Assistant at the University of Peradeniya from September 2011 to July 2012, and as a Trainee in the Technology Group at Suntel Ltd from May 2010 to November 2010.

Hiranya "HJ" Jayakody pursued their education in a chronological manner. Hiranya began their academic journey by completing their G.C.E. Advanced Level in Physical Sciences at Dharmaraja College, Kandy from 1994 to 2006.

Hiranya then went on to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the University of Peradeniya, which lasted from 2007 to 2011.

Building upon their undergraduate studies, HJ Jayakody further honed their skills by pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering at UNSW from 2012 to 2016.
