Omar Yar Khan

Omar Yar Khan has a diverse and extensive work experience. Omar is currently serving as the Chief Communications and Public Affairs Officer at High Tide Inc., a leading cannabis retail chain. In this role, they oversee all corporate communications and government relations activities and acts as the main corporate spokesperson. Omar previously held the position of Senior Vice President for Corporate and Public Affairs at High Tide Inc. and was responsible for tailoring communications strategies to have maximum impact on investor and government audiences.

Before their time at Hill+Knowlton Strategies, Omar held Chief of Staff positions at the Ontario Ministries of Health and Long-Term Care, Economic Development and Growth, Government and Consumer Services, and the Attorney General. In these roles, they served as the most senior advisor to the Ministers and was responsible for managing staff, leading negotiations, developing strategies, and overseeing various initiatives.

Omar's career also includes roles as a Senior Policy Advisor at the Ontario Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development and as an Assistant Consultant in Public Affairs at Hill+Knowlton Strategies. Omar has experience in developing funding packages, creating legislation, leading reviews, and working with stakeholders in various sectors.

Early in their career, Omar worked as an International Trade Consultant at the Canadian Trade Office of the Council of Great Lakes Governors, where they provided research assistance and market intelligence to companies looking to expand exports into Canada.
