President, Asia, Founder & CEO, Synergy H+K Korea at Hill+Knowlton Strategies

HS brings over 28 years of marketing and communications experience working for integrated marketing agencies DMB&B, McCann-Erickson and in-house PR and marketing at The Westin Chosun and The Ritz-Carlton Seoul hotels prior to setting up Synergy Communications in January 2000 which later became Synergy Hill+Knowlton Strategies in 2002. HS also worked for major Korean broadcasting station, MBC-TV for over two years prior to starting her career in the marketing and communications industry.

Currently HS leads a team of close to 250 staff across Asia including Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Japan and manages affiliate relationships across markets in Asia offering services in Corporate, Marketing Communications, Government, Public Affairs, Technology, Consumer Healthcare and Crisis and Issues Management practices. HS also spearheads specialized service offerings for the Korean government and conglomerates going global including LG Electronics and has been involved in a number of government led Olympic projects including the most recent 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics.

HS has a strong background in corporate, integrated communications and digital having worked for many blue-chip multinational clients throughout her career including Coca-Cola, Nestle, P&G, Johnson&Johnson, Audi, Mercedes Benz, Novartis, GSK and many others. She also has deep understanding of Asian conglomerates and their business needs and has provided C-suite counsel on global PR strategy and framework set up to numerous conglomerates including LG, POSCO, SK Group and Hyundai Motor Company. HS is recognized as Campaign APAC’s Women to Watch 2020.

A graduate of Yonsei University, majoring in Mass Communications, HS served as the editor-in-chief of the campus newspaper, “The Yonsei Annals,” and won “The Korea Herald’s Best Article Award.” HS also participated in the “Young Korean Journalist Program” hosted by USIS and Center for Foreign Journalist in Washington DC, USA.

HS is a member of the KPRCA (Korea Public Relations Corporate Association) and is also on the board of the PRCA SEA.
