Elyssa Hammerman has a diverse work experience in different organizations and roles. Elyssa began their career as a Counselor Supervisor at Camp Towhee in 2008. Elyssa then worked as a Graduate Supervisor of the Fitness and Wellness Living Learning Community at Indiana University Bloomington from 2007 to 2009. Elyssa also served as a Tikvah Educator and Buddy Program Coordinator at Camp Ramah in California in 2009. From 2010 to 2011, they were the Program Director at Ramah in the Rockies. In 2010, they briefly held the role of Camp Nefesh Director at URJ Camp Newman & Swig. Elyssa then transitioned to Denver Academy of Torah, where they worked as an Elementary School Teacher from 2007 to 2014. During this time, they joined the Jewish Student Connection as an Educator/Advisor from 2014 to 2016, where they built relationships with students and guided them on their journeys. Starting in 2012, they took on the role of Founding Director of the Tikvah Program at Ramah in the Rockies, a position they held until 2019. Elyssa then joined JEWISHcolorado as the Director of Strategy and Programming from 2016 to 2019. Most recently, they have been working as the Project Director, Campus Success at Hillel International since 2019.
Elyssa Hammerman has an extensive education history. Elyssa attended Syracuse University from 2001 to 2005, where they earned a Bachelor's Degree in Inclusive Elementary and Special Education. Following that, they pursued further education at Indiana University Bloomington from 2005 to 2007 and obtained a Master's Degree in Parks, Recreation, and Leisure Studies. In 2009, Elyssa attended the Florence Melton Adult Mini School and studied Jewish/Judaic Studies until 2012. Elyssa also spent a year at the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies in 2012-2013, focusing on Jewish/Judaic Studies. Later, they enrolled at the University of Denver, specializing in Applied Behavior Analysis until 2014.
In addition to their academic achievements, Elyssa obtained several certifications. Elyssa holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute, which they acquired in March 2023. Elyssa also obtained a Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership and Administration from the Colorado Free University in February 2016. Furthermore, Elyssa has Colorado Initial Certification in Elementary Education and Special Education (1-6) and New York State Certification in Elementary Education and Special Education (1-6), although the institutions where they obtained these certifications are unknown.
