Craig Mearns has a diverse work experience, having held various leadership roles in different organizations. From 2022 onwards, they took on the position of Director of Operations at Historic Environment Scotland. Prior to that, from 2020 to 2021, they worked as a Senior Project Lead at Peak Scientific, where they led a project to improve global stock management processes and efficiency. Craig was also the HQ lead for a new offshore manufacturing project. Before joining Peak Scientific, Craig served in the Royal Navy. From 2015 to 2020, they held the role of Captain, where they demonstrated executive and managerial skills by delivering high-quality results in complex environments. As a Captain, they were responsible for leading teams, shaping strategy, delivering change, and developing professional relationships. Prior to that, they served as the Captain of the Base at Faslane, where they focused on improving the quality of life for the personnel employed there. Craig's naval career also included serving as the HMS QUEEN ELIZABETH Commander Logistics, where they played a crucial role in establishing operating procedures and preparing the largest ship in the Royal Navy for deployment.
Craig Mearns attended Robert Gordon's College from 1976 to 1983. During this time, they did not pursue a specific degree or field of study. Following that, from 1983 to 1987, they studied at the University of Aberdeen where they obtained an MA (Hons) in Geography.
