Tim Coles

Starting his career as a Mechanical and Production Design Engineer in the automotive world, Tim transitioned over to IT and Security working for the UK Government in Communications.

He then went on to work for the Volkswagen Group for 8 years in various roles including the Head of IT for Cosworth Technology and Head of Security for VW UK. Before joining JCB Construction as their Head of IT/Group CIO for more than 10 years. Here he standardised processes, systems and globalised their IT and Cyber Security functions, whilst also introducing many new IT and IoT solutions throughout the company, including spearheading the introduction of telematics into the product range, now known as JCBLiveLink.

Just before joining Hitachi Rail in 2019, Tim spent 3 years as Group CIO in the fast moving electrical distribution company Premier Farnell.
