David R. Braxton M.D.'s work experience includes serving as the Chief of Molecular Pathology at Hoag Hospital since November 2018, as well as being a Medical Staff member since 2016. David R. has also been involved in various roles in technology start-ups, such as Imagene, Precidx Corp, and DeepLens, where they were a principal investigator and advisor for clinical validation and MVP development. Additionally, they have held Pharma & Biotech roles since 2018. Dr. Braxton has worked as a Pathologist & Shareholder at Newport Harbor Pathology Medical Group since July 2016, and also served as the Vice President of the Board of Directors from January 2018 to December 2021. Prior to these positions, they were a Research Scholar at the Eli & Edythe Broad Center for Regeneration Medicine and Stem Cell Research of USC from July 2006 to June 2010, and a Research Student at Children's Hospital Los Angeles CHLA in 2006.
Dr. David R. Braxton received their Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Florida State University in 2005. David R. then obtained their Medical Doctorate (M.D.) from the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California in 2010. Following that, they completed a residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Emory University School of Medicine from 2010 to 2014. Dr. Braxton further advanced their education with fellowships in Gastrointestinal and Hepatobiliary Pathology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine from 2014 to 2015, and in Molecular Genetic Pathology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA from 2015 to 2016. David R. holds certifications in Molecular Genetic Pathology from the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics, and in Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology from The American Board of Pathology (ABPath). Dr. Braxton is also licensed by the Medical Board of California.
