Roeland R.

Roeland R. has extensive experience in information security and data protection. Roeland currently serves as the Chief Information Security Officer at both the University of Amsterdam and Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. Roeland has held this position since March 2018 and continues to hold it. In addition, they have also served as the Acting Data Protection Officer at Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences from April 2018 to September 2018. Prior to their current roles, Roeland R. was the Founder and Owner of Rubicon Projects B.V. from June 2006. Roeland was also a Partner at m7 from January 2013 to July 2022. Roeland R. has further experience as a CISO a.i. & DPO a.i. at Erasmus University Rotterdam from April 2016 to February 2018, as well as a Security & Privacy Officer a.i. at SURFmarket from May 2015 to August 2017. Roeland was also a Security and CERT Consultant at Unie van Waterschappen from August 2014 to September 2016.

Roeland R. obtained a Master of Science degree in Risk Management from the University of Twente, where they attended from 2023 to 2025. Prior to that, they pursued Engineering Physics/Applied Physics at Delft University of Technology from 1992 to 1997. In terms of additional certifications, they obtained various qualifications including the Proofpoint Certified Security Awareness Specialist in 2023, Cybersecurity for Managers and Executives from Delft University of Technology, Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT), GIAC Strategic Policy, Planning and Leadership (GSTRT), Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E), and completed a course on Terrorism and Counterterrorism: Comparing Theory and Practice (With distinction) from Coursera in 2013.
