Sonia Palha

Sonia Palha is an associate professor in Mathematics Education and research at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences since January 2013, where additional roles include Senior Lecturer and Mathematics Teacher Educator. Previously, Sonia served as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Amsterdam from September 2008 to December 2015, focusing on collaborative learning and developing an instructional model aimed at enhancing mathematical reasoning in regular school settings. Sonia's teaching career began in September 1996 at various institutions, including Oosterlicht College and Herman Jordan Lyceum, where mathematics was taught to middle and high school students. From 2001 to 2009, Sonia also worked as a researcher and developer at the Freudenthal Institute for Science and Mathematics Education, leading projects related to the integration of ICT in mathematics education. Sonia holds a Master's degree in Mathematics Education from the University of Lisbon and a first degree certificate in Mathematics Teacher Education from Utrecht University.
