Behdad Chalaki is a Research Scientist and Robotics Engineer at Honda Research Institute USA, Inc. since August 2022. Previously, Chalaki served as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Delaware from August 2017 to August 2022, where expertise was developed in optimal control frameworks for connected and automated vehicles (CAVs), focusing on traffic scenarios to enhance throughput and safety. Chalaki formulated vehicle motion planning as a scheduling problem, applying mixed-integer linear programming techniques using IBM CPLEX. Chalaki's experience also includes an internship in the R&D section at Sarmasazan Bahar Zagros, where a solar water cooler was designed and a data acquisition system for refrigerator testing was implemented. Chalaki holds a Ph.D. and a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Delaware, as well as a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tehran.
