Faafp Faahpm Robert Ancker M.D.

Dr. Robert Ancker has a significant background in hospice and palliative care. Robert is currently serving as the Chief Medical Officer at Hospice of the Western Reserve since September 2021. Prior to this role, they worked as the Medical Director at Hospice of North Idaho from August 2005 to September 2021. During their tenure at Kootenai Health, they held the positions of Inpatient Palliative Care Consultant from January 2016 to January 2018, and Medical Director of Palliative Care from August 2005 to December 2011. Dr. Ancker also served as the Medical Director at Blue Ridge Hospice from June 1999 to June 2005. Additionally, they gained experience as the Medical Director of Occupational & Employee Health at Valley Health from February 2001 to March 2003. Robert started their career as an Employee Family Physician at Blue Ridge Family Practice from July 1999 to January 2001 and as an Employee Physician at Carson Valley Medical Group from July 1994 to July 1996. Dr. Ancker also held the position of Medical Director of Hospice & Home Health at Barton Health from 1996 to 1999.

Robert Ancker MD, FAAFP FAAHPM completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree at LSU Shreveport from 1984 to 1986. Following this, they pursued their Doctor of Medicine (MD) at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport from 1986 to 1990. Robert then undertook an Internship and Residency program in Family Medicine at the same institution from 1990 to 1993.

In 1993, Dr. Ancker engaged in a Fellowship in Rural Medicine at Willis-Knighton Rural Fellowship, which they completed in 1994. Later, in 1997, they attended UCLA for the Medical Acupuncture for Physicians Course.

Dr. Ancker also obtained additional certification as they achieved the Certification of Added Qualifications for Hospice and Palliative Medicine from the American Board of Family Medicine in October 2008.
