Alex Jones has a diverse work experience spanning from 2003 to 2023. Alex has worked as a Director in various technology roles at American Express, overseeing global payment applications and leading teams responsible for software delivery and workforce planning. Alex has also held leadership positions at fintech companies, serving as the Chief Technology Officer at FIN-PAY and Paiid, where they focused on transforming mobile phones into payment terminals and enabling businesses to accept various forms of payment. In recent years, Alex has taken on advisory roles as a CTO at Upplft and HospoPay, where they have worked with founders to review and scale their minimum viable products. Additionally, they have contributed to the tech industry as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Technology Sydney in 2012.
Alex Jones began their education in 2000 at the University of Nottingham, where they pursued a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Electronic & Computer Engineering. Alex completed this program in 2003. Following this, they enrolled at the University of Sussex and earned a Master's Degree in Information Technology & E-Commerce, completing their studies in 2005.
In 2017, Alex attended the Harvard Business School for a certificate program in Leadership Excellence, which lasted for one year. Moving forward to 2020, they attended the University of Cambridge for a program in Business Analytics: Decision Making Using Data, completing this program in 2021.
Alongside their formal education, Alex has obtained various certifications. In 2005, they became a Member (MBCS) of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT. In 2016, they earned the Certified SAFe Agilist certification from Scaled Agile, Inc. Then, in 2019, they obtained the Chartered IT Professional (CITP) certification from BCS. Finally, in 2020, Alex acquired the Certified SAFe® 5 Agilist certification from Scaled Agile, Inc., and the PRINCE2 Practitioner certification from APMG-International.
