Brianda Lopez

Brianda Lopez's work experience includes serving as the CEO (Chief Executive Officer) at Hostelling International since July 2020. Brianda also worked as the HI-Q&S (Quality & Sustainability) Auditor from October 2018, where they implemented a recognized certification system for hostels. Prior to their current role, they served as the Head of Programmes, Standards, and Sustainability at Hostelling International from September 2015 to July 2020. Brianda was also the Sustainability Manager at the same company from June 2010 to November 2015.

In addition, Brianda Lopez was involved with the Global Sustainable Tourism Council, where they worked in the International Sustainable Tourism Standards Working Group from February 2011 onwards. Brianda contributed to revising existing standards and developing additional sets of standards for the tourism industry.

Furthermore, they served as a Member of the Board of Affiliate Members at the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) from September 2015 to September 2019.

Before their roles in the tourism industry, Brianda Lopez worked as the COO (Chief Operations Officer) at Cerkot Proyectos S.L. - Construction Services from April 2008 to June 2009. Brianda also worked as a Senior Consultant at Ebro Cartera de Inmuebles S.L. from September 2006 to February 2008. Prior to that, they were the Chief Operations Officer at Grupo Ingloba S.A. - Commercial Laundry from December 2001 to June 2006. Brianda began their career as the Head of Marketing at Grupo FEF de Inversiones S.L. from January 2000 to July 2001.

Brianda Lopez's education history includes several achievements in the field of sustainability, environmental management, and business administration. In 1994, they completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Business Administration and Management, General at the University of Valencia. Later, in 2010, they acquired a Master of Science (MSc) in Environmental Management and Sustainable Development, also from the University of Valencia. In 2012, Brianda attended the Instituto Turismo Responsable, where they received the title of Implanter-internal auditor recognized by the Institute for Responsible Tourism (UNESCO) in Sustainability Studies. Moving forward, in 2018, they attended IT Governance Ltd and completed the Certified EU General Data Protection Regulation Foundation (GDPR) Training Course. Lastly, in 2019, Brianda participated in the SDGXCHANGE Advisory Training.
