Marissa Johnston

Marissa Johnston currently serves as a Grant/Development Writer at the Houston Humane Society, a position held since December 2022. Prior to this role, Marissa worked at Harris County Public Health from June 2018 to November 2022, where responsibilities included Project Manager for Veterinary Public Health grants and serving as Engagement Specialist for Healthy Living Matters. Earlier experience at CHILDREN AT RISK from June 2015 to June 2018 involved roles such as Project Coordinator for the Center for Parenting and Family Well-Being, Managing Editor/Media Coordinator, and Editorial Coordinator. Marissa holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Global Justice and Policy, along with a focus in Creative Writing from James Madison University, obtained from 2008 to 2012.
