William Hampton has a diverse range of work experience in various roles and industries. William started their career as a Mentor at GeoTech Lab, where they mentored high-school students in software programs and developed courses. William then worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Alabama, developing C and Arduino code for an RFID device used in robot communication.
Following that, William worked as a Software Engineering Intern at PDX, Inc., where they wrote a RESTful client connecting to a MongoDB and helped bugfix SQL statements and enterprise Java code. William then interned as an Electrical Engineer at Bell Helicopter, developing Python code for experimental sensors and analyzing helicopter flight data.
William then interned at Textron Systems as an Electrical Engineer, writing VHDL code for a radar simulator and creating an interface for a flash memory chip. William also worked as a Robotics Research Intern at the University of Michigan, leading a team in developing a robotic arm and designing the arm's wiring harness and power system.
In 2017, William joined Epic as a Software Developer, working on a C#/JavaScript application, implementing custom versions for customers, and developing PowerShell scripts. William also worked as an Autonomous Vehicles Software Engineer at Honda R&D Americas, Inc. during this time.
From 2018 to 2020, William was a Research Assistant at the University of Michigan, developing control code for experiments using the SAWYER robot and maintaining a drone control simulator.
Most recently, William served as a Software Developer at Hoverfly Technologies, where they developed a flight management system and various in-house tools using C++ and Python. William also supported the development of an open-source program and created a custom version for Hoverfly systems.
Throughout their career, William has demonstrated proficiency in software development, robotics, electrical engineering, and research.
William Hampton holds a Master's degree in Robotics from the University of Michigan, which they pursued from 2018 to 2020. William completed their Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Computer Science from The University of Alabama between 2013 and 2017.
