As chief of people and culture, Chung is responsible for direction and management of workforce and culture. Chung provides leadership and strategic thinking around a wide range of HHMI activities, including talent management, compensation and benefits, learning and organizational development, and cultural change. Her work spans the Institute, including HHMI headquarters, Janelia Research Campus, and field locations.
Chung has more than 20 years of human resources experience with nonprofit and for-profit organizations, supporting them to grow and sustain strong cultures. Before joining HHMI in 2021, Chung was the chief human resources officer at Library Systems and Services in Rockville, Maryland. Prior to that, she held leadership positions in human resources and talent management at Sodexo, Community Services for Autistic Adults and Children, Inc., and State Farm.
Chung earned a BA in business administration from Eastern Nazarene College and an MS in organizational development and strategic human resources from the Johns Hopkins University.
