Frank Wei, PhD, is a seasoned expert in artificial intelligence and machine learning, currently serving as the Principal and Distinguished Scientist as well as Director of Data Science at General Motors since 2019. At GM, Frank Wei has successfully led technical teams in the deployment of large language models (LLMs) using advanced techniques such as vllm and TensorRT, achieving a sevenfold business growth through innovative applications of prompt engineering and RAG technologies. Previously, between 2014 and 2019, Frank Wei worked as a Senior Research Statistician at the USDA, where leadership was provided to the hog/pig official estimates prediction team, focusing on data processing and calibration. Earlier experience includes a role as Research Associate at NISS in 2013-2014, where data manipulation for national assessments was performed using SAS, R, and Python. Frank Wei holds a PhD in Computational Science and Data Science from George Mason University, alongside two master's degrees in Applied Mathematics and Applied Statistics from the University of Michigan.
