Jyri Juusela

Vice President, General Counsel, EMEA at Huhtamaki

Jyri Juusela has extensive work experience in the legal field. Jyri currently holds the position of Vice President, General Counsel, EMEA at Huhtamaki since 2020. In this role, they are responsible for providing legal support for Huhtamaki's businesses in the EMEA region, including areas such as commercial and contract law, corporate law and governance, and legal and regulatory risk management. Jyri also oversees HR legal support globally and manages outside counsel. Jyri is a member of the Legal Leadership Team and the advisory member of the Fiber Foodservice Europe-Asia-Oceania Business Segment Leadership Team. Reporting to the Group General Counsel, they are part of the Global Executive Team. Prior to their current role, Jyri held the position of Head of Commercial Legal at Huhtamaki.

Before joining Huhtamaki, Jyri worked at Metsä Group from 2006 to 2020, where they held various legal counsel and senior legal counsel roles. Jyri provided legal support in areas including contract law, company law, M&A, dispute resolution, ICT, IP, employment, real estate, and environment. Jyri served as lead counsel for various divisions within Metsä Group, including Metsä Tissue Oyj, Metsä Fibre Oy, and Metsä Wood. Jyri was also responsible for HR legal matters and procurement-related legal support for major projects. Additionally, Jyri had roles related to corporate governance reporting, IP legal, and environmental legal.

Jyri also gained experience from their time as a Visiting Lawyer at Hengeler Mueller and internships at Kauppila Partners and Merilampi Attorneys.

Jyri Juusela received their Master of Laws degree from the University of Helsinki in 2007. Jyri also completed exchange studies in international commercial law and public and private international law at Erasmus University Rotterdam in 2004-2005. In 2001, they obtained a Finnish Matriculation Examination from Porin Suomalainen Yhteislyseo. Furthermore, they participated in the Metsä Group Management Development Program Challenger at Aalto University Executive Education and Professional Development in 2016-2017. Jyri is currently enrolled in Huhtamaki's Strategic Leadership Program at INSEAD, which is scheduled to be completed in 2023.
