Abir Ghattas

Abir is the Information Security Director for Human Rights Watch. She provides strategic and operational oversight for managing information security risks that HRW staff face in their work. Before developing her expertise in information and digital security, Abir was the communications and outreach director for Raseef22, a PAN Arab independent media platform, and also the outreach director for Majal, a network of digital platforms centered on securing freedom of expression and Access to information.

Abir sits on Article 19's international board, OTF's advisory council, and the grant advisory board of Access Now.

She holds a BS in computer sciences and Mathematics and an MA in communication and digital strategies.
