Colleen Hilker is an experienced educator with a diverse background in teaching and editing. Currently serving as a Guest Teacher at Humboldt County Office of Education since March 2023, Colleen has also been an Editor for EcoNews at the Northcoast Environmental Center since March 2022, providing insight on grammatical and content clarity for environmental articles. Previously, Colleen held positions as a Biology Teacher at Proximity Learning, Inc. and an Online English Teacher, instructing high school students and ensuring academic success through assessment and feedback. At Northern Humboldt High School District, Colleen coordinated independent study programs while supporting students and families. Colleen’s teaching career began at Pajaro Valley Unified School District, where science was taught to various grade levels, employing hands-on learning strategies. Colleen holds a BA with honors in English literature from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a Master of Arts in Teaching with a focus on Science Education from National University.
