Lucas Chapin

Lucas Chapin's work experience begins in 2011 at Accenture, where they worked as a Business Analyst until 2013. Lucas then joined Facebook as a Business Analyst and later became a Lead Business Analyst, where they built Tableau dashboards, developed financial forecasts, and created regression models for HR data. In 2016, Lucas transitioned to AltSchool, where they served as a Senior Data Analyst and later as the company's first Senior Data Engineer. At AltSchool, they implemented a Redshift data warehouse, developed data pipelines, and built and deployed a Flask-based web app with custom data visualizations.

In 2019, Lucas joined Wanderu, Inc as a Senior Data Engineer, where they developed a machine learning model and production API, automated the ML Ops process, and increased revenue per session by 8%. Lucas then moved to Socure in 2020 as a Senior Data Engineer, where they set up initial tooling and infrastructure and grew the data engineering practice. Lucas received a double promotion to Staff Data Engineer and served as a Tech lead across two teams, designing overall architecture, leading scrum practices, mentoring others, and translating business needs into technical requirements.

Currently, Lucas holds the position of Head of Data at Hummingbird, starting in 2023.

Lucas Chapin obtained their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Economics from Duke University, where they studied from 2006 to 2010. After completing their undergraduate studies, they pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Management Studies at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business, from an unspecified start year until 2011. In 2016, Lucas attended General Assembly to complete a Data Science Bootcamp. Then, in 2017 and 2018, they enrolled at Udacity to earn a Machine Learning Engineer Nanodegree.
