Heidi Schuler

Heidi Schuler has a diverse work experience in various educational and language assessment roles. Heidi started their career in 2009 as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Northern Arizona University, teaching composition courses. Heidi then worked as an ESL Instructor, teaching English as a Second Language to native Arabic and Chinese speakers.

In 2011, Schuler joined the Program in Intensive English at Northern Arizona University as an ESL Instructor, where they taught various ESL courses and created lesson plans and materials.

From 2013 onwards, they took on multiple roles at Northern Arizona University. As an Instructional Specialist, they designed and taught courses covering verbal, written, and logic portions of standardized tests. Heidi also taught literature courses, covering a range of genres, periods, nationalities, and ethnicities. Additionally, they taught ESL classes and scored writing and speaking tests.

In 2018, they worked as an English Assessment Passage and Item Writer, where they wrote assessment content for English Language Arts (ELA), ESL, and English/foreign language proficiency areas. These test materials were used by state boards of education, universities, employers, and the federal government.

Schuler then transitioned to roles focused on language proficiency tests. Heidi worked as an English Proficiency Test Form Reviewer/Test Rater at Michigan Language Assessment, evaluating exam drafts and scoring speaking and writing test responses. Heidi also served as a Language Proficiency Test Item Reviewer at ICA Language Services, providing feedback on items drafted for government tests of foreign language proficiency.

Most recently, they joined HurixDigital in 2022 as a University Course Assessment Developer. In this role, they review and revises assessment materials for graduate and undergraduate courses and ensures alignment with course standards.

Heidi Schuler earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and History from Northern Arizona University in 2008. Heidi went on to pursue a Master of Arts degree in English with a Literature Emphasis from the same university, completing their studies in 2011.
