Andy Blunt

Chief Operating Officer & Chairman at Husch Blackwell Strategies

In his role as Chairman and Chief Operating Officer of Husch Blackwell Strategies, Andy is primarily responsible for managing and growing the firm’s state government affairs practices across the country. Specializing in strategic government affairs counsel, Andy maintains an active lobbying practice in addition to advising clients who are facing significant challenges that encompass public affairs and reputation management.

As Chief Operating Officer, Andy’s strategic growth initiatives have rapidly expanded HBS’s presence in seven state capitals – Arizona, Colorado, Maryland, Missouri, Nebraska, Texas and Wisconsin – where the firm employs over a dozen government affairs professionals who represent more than 150 clients. The firm’s impressive growth at both the state and federal levels has received a variety of accolades, most notably from Bloomberg News in its recognition of HBS as the top new lobby firm startup of 2018.

A tireless advocate, Andy’s active lobbying practice features his specialization in effecting change through direct and constant advocacy. The Missouri Times recognized Andy as “one of the top lobbyists in the State [of Missouri],” noting that, “his client list is a ‘who’s who’ of top corporations and associations, and anyone coming to Missouri with an issue that needs work makes a stop at his office.”

With extensive experience providing strategic government affairs counsel for Fortune 500 corporations, trade associations, public institutions and business of all sizes, Andy helps clients navigate a complex legislative and regulatory environment. His ability to consistently produce successful results when it matters most has helped innumerable clients across the country overcome challenges to achieve their strategic priorities.

Andy’s reputation as a top political strategist is a product of his versatility as much as it is the results he produces. His work includes having managed the efforts of four successful statewide campaigns, as well as several House and Senate campaigns. He has also consulted for the Missouri House and Senate campaign committees, in addition to the Missouri Republican Party.

In 2018, Andy partnered with Chief Executive Officer, Gregg Hartley, to create Husch Blackwell Strategies as an affiliated company with one of the Midwest’s largest and most respected law firms, Husch Blackwell. The partnership and formation of HBS is a natural progression of Andy and Gregg’s collective vision to create innovative solutions that set a new standard in government affairs services.

Prior to co-founding Husch Blackwell Strategies, Andy founded the Missouri-based lobbying firm Statehouse Strategies, where he led a highly successful team of government affairs advocates. Before forming Statehouse Strategies, Andy was a founding partner at the law firm of Schreimann, Rackers, Francka & Blunt, where he created and managed the firm’s public policy and lobbying practice.

A Missouri native, Andy holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri – Columbia and received dual-undergraduate degrees from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri.
