Gemma Birse

Gemma Birse has extensive work experience in project and portfolio management. Gemma currently holds the position of Head of Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (ePMO) at Hutt City Council since 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Xero as a Portfolio & Programme Management Lead and Programme Lead from 2020 to 2023. Gemma also worked as a Senior Project Manager at Modica Group from 2016 to 2020, where they managed critical and complex projects and provided leadership to project teams. Before that, they worked at iMonitor Ltd as a Business Analyst/Project Manager in 2016. Gemma'searlier experience includes roles at Modica Group Limited, South West Trains, Energy Saving Trust Scotland, and Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, where they held various project and programme management positions.

Gemma Birse attended Victoria University of Wellington from 2004 to 2008, where they obtained a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration degree with a focus on Public Policy and Commercial Law. During their time at the university, they also pursued a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Classical Studies. In 2011, they enrolled in Victoria University of Wellington again and completed a National Certificate in Public Sector Statistics. It is not mentioned if they obtained any additional certifications or when they obtained them.
