Graeme Rae, Ph.D. has a long and varied work history. Graeme began their career in 1985 as a Midshipman in the Royal Navy. In 1988, they became a Field Engineer at Dunn and Associates. From 1993 to 1997, they were an Assistant Professor of Ocean Engineering at Florida Institute of Technology, and from 1997 to 2000, they were a Visiting Professor of Ocean Engineering at Florida Atlantic University. From 2000 to 2006, they were a Scientific Consultant at Surfline/Buoyweather, and from 2006 to 2017, they were a Tidal Data Consultant at Nixon. From 2017 to 2019, they were the Chief Consultant at GraeMatter Solutions and the Chief Scientific Consultant at Aquaai Corporation. Finally, from 2019 to 2021, they were a Senior Research and Development Engineer at Swift Engineering, Inc. In 2021, they became the CEO and founder of Hyperkelp Inc., a TechStars-backed company. Throughout their career, they have developed deep expertise in marine sciences, tidal prediction, nearshore modeling, ocean physics, autonomous underwater vehicles, embedded systems, and more.
Graeme Rae, Ph.D. completed their Bachelor of Science in Ship Science from the University of Southampton between 1985 and 1988. Graeme then went on to pursue their Doctorate in Ocean Engineering and Artificial Intelligence from Florida Atlantic University, which they completed in 1995.
