Dr. Elie Track rejoined HYPRES as CTO in January of 2022. In this appointment, he continues his lifelong work in superconducting electronics and its applications in communications and computation. He had been with HYPRES from 1987 to 2013 in different roles, joining after his Ph.D. in 1987, progressing to lead as President and CEO from 1994 to 2000, and Senior Partner until 2013. From 2014 to 2020, he served as Senior Advisory Engineer for ESG Government Solutions on Assignment at Northrop-Grumman in Baltimore. From 2003 to 2005, he was Visiting Professor of Physics at Fairfield University and is currently part-time guest Faculty at the University. In 2013, he co-founded nVizix LLC, a company focused on innovative high-efficiency solar cells. He is an IEEE Fellow, co-Founder of the IEEE Rebooting Computing initiative (currently a Task Force within the Computer Society), member of the steering committee of the IEEE Quantum initiative, Chairman of the steering committee of the IEEE Transactions on Quantum Engineering, and past President (2011-2014) of the IEEE Council on Superconductivity. He served as President of the Yale Science and Engineering Association (YSEA) from 2007 to 2010 and as Chairman of the Coalition for the Commercial Applications of Superconductors (CCAS) from 2008 to 2010. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from Yale University (1988) and is author/co-author of over 50 publications in the field.
