Steven Blunden, CEng MRAeS, has a diverse work experience spanning across different roles and companies.
Steven began their career at MBDA in 2007 as an Undergraduate Placement in Aerodynamics and Propulsion, where they gained practical engineering experience and developed technical presentation skills. This experience resulted in an offer to join MBDA's graduate scheme.
From 2008 to 2014, Steven worked at MBDA as a Graduate Aerodynamics and Propulsion Engineer. During this time, they undertook a formal development program and completed four placements, working on projects of varying maturity levels. Steven performed tasks such as aerodynamic design, performance assessments, data analysis, and report writing.
In 2010, Steven was promoted to the role of Senior Aerodynamics and Propulsion Engineer at MBDA. In this position, they worked alongside mechanical design, guidance and control, and systems engineers to ensure solutions complied with system requirements. Steven also managed computational fluid dynamics activities and generated a significant aerodynamic dataset.
Steven then took on the role of Principal Engineer at MBDA in 2013, where they managed a team of aerodynamics and propulsion specialists. Steven successfully planned, managed, and delivered complex workloads within the prescribed principles of time, cost, and quality. Steven also regularly presented technical reports and presentations to meet customer payment milestones.
Since 2014, Steven has been working at IAG Cargo. Steven started as the Business Insights Team Leader, leading a team of commercial analysts to provide insights into business performance. Steven was responsible for reporting and analysis of sales and commercial performance, market share, inventory management, and marketing. Additionally, they designed and delivered business intelligence solutions in collaboration with IT teams.
Currently, Steven holds the position of Head of Data, Insights, and OR at IAG Cargo. Steven is responsible for defining, developing, and implementing targeted business change projects across multiple business units. Steven initially focused on improving the cargo build planning process at IAG Cargo's London Heathrow hub and developing strategic airline partnerships.
Throughout their career, Steven has proven their expertise in engineering, team management, business insights, and project implementation.
Steven Blunden, CEng MRAeS pursued their education at Imperial College London, where they obtained a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, and Astronautical Engineering. Steven attended the university from 2004 to 2008. Prior to that, they studied at Spelthorne College from 2002 to 2004.
