Ricardo Ramirez

President, International Bank of Commerce, Zapata at IBC Bank

IBC Bank-Zapata President, Ricardo Ramirez, began his career with IBC Bank in September 2002 as a lender and quickly distinguished himself by growing his loan portfolio to in excess of $50 million. He was promoted to Corporate Sales Manager for Zapata in 2004 and was subsequently promoted to executive vice president in 2009. He assumed the role of president and member of the board in December 2010. Ramirez was literally born into the banking industry. He is the son of Renato Ramirez, who founded IBC Bank-Zapata in 1984. The bank has 11 branches in its service area, which includes Zapata, Rio Grande City, Roma, Hebbronville, Freer, Alice, Kingsville, and Beeville.

Ramirez is involved in numerous community organizations dedicated to education, assistance in the protection of civil rights and opportunities for economic development. He is board member of the Zapata County Boys and Girls Club served as president for 10 years, secretary of the Zapata County Appraisal District, President of the Zapata Independent School District, vice president and board member of Los Ebanos Golf Course and on the Zapata County Fair Livestock Committee. He has served on the Zapata County Appraisal District Review Board (1997-1999) and as vice president of the Zapata County Little League (1997-1999). The Ramirez family partnership donated 70 acres of land for the construction of a $1 million dollar municipal airport in Zapata County, funded a $1 million scholarship endowment at Texas A&M International University in Laredo, Texas — the largest endowment for scholarships in the history of the University.
