Kara Montermoso

Kara Montermoso has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Kara currently holds the position of Chief of Staff at Idealist.org, where they have been working since June 2021. Prior to this, they held the role of Senior Director of Administration from October 2020 to May 2021. Kara has also worked at Idealist.org as the Director of HR from January 2019 to September 2020 and as the Associate Director of HR from January 2018 to December 2018. Before their HR roles, they served as the HR and Operations Manager from 2008 to 2017 and as the Manager of Special Projects from 2007 to 2008. Kara started their career at Idealist.org as an intern in October 2003. Kara has also gained experience in the education sector, working as a Varsity Gymnastics Assistant Coach at Saint Francis High School since February 2022 and as a Coach for volleyball, basketball, and soccer at St. Monica School since August 2014. Additionally, they have served as the JV Basketball Assistant Coach at St. Ignatius College Preparatory from June 2020 to May 2022. Kara has also pursued their passion for yoga by working as a Yoga Instructor at Home Sweet Om from June 2018 to February 2019. Kara started their career as a Volunteer Coordinator at Learning Leaders NYC from September 2000 to June 2001. Kara has also worked in various other roles such as Content Manager and Content Associate at Idealist.org, Massage Therapist at Equinox, Session Assistant at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and Resource Development Fellow at Breaking Ground (formerly Common Ground).

Kara Montermoso obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Policy from Brown University, attending from 1996 to 1999. In 2002 to 2003, they pursued an Associate of Science degree in an unspecified field of study at the Swedish Institute of Massage Therapy. Additionally, Kara has obtained several certifications throughout their career. In 2018, they completed a 200 Hour Teacher Training program certified by Yoga Alliance at Lotusland Yoga SF. In 2020, they acquired an End of Life Doula Certificate from the International End-of-Life Doula Association (INELDA). Continuing their education in recent years, Kara obtained a Teaching Certification from It's Yoga Kids® in April 2023 and became a Certified End of Life Specialist (CEOLS) in August 2023 from Teaching Transitions, LLC.
