Julien invests in early and growth stage companies in China and in Asean for the Smart City I & II fund. Its main areas of intervention are technologies and services contributing to the development of smart cities : mobility, logistics, new energies, real estate technology, industry 4.0 and deeptech artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, IoT, robotics).
To date, Julien has mainly invested in digital technologies with B2B models with reach in China, Asia, Europe and the United States: WeRide.ai (driverless taxis, China), DST Car (EV Logistics, China ), Grab (races, payments and deliveries, Singapore), Immotor (electric scooter battery exchanges, China), Neurala Inc. (neural network software, USA), TrustInSoft (automated code analysis and fault correction, France), Enlighted Inc. (IoT networks for buildings, United States, acquired by Siemens), First Fuel Software ( Energy data analytics , United States, acquired by Uplight / Tendril), Organica Water Inc. (decentralized water treatment used, US / HK) and Actility (Low power IoT networks, France).
Julien also supports companies in their cross-border growth towards Asia (and now from Asia to Europe): identification of technological gaps, construction of trade bridges, search for new investors and help raise venture capital funds in Asia.
Before joining Idinvest in 2011, Julien was based in China where he developed and acquired thermal, hydroelectric and wind projects for the EDF group, one of the world's largest electric utility companies. He turned to the world of start-ups and technology in 2009, working with entrepreneurs to advise them in their deployments in mainland China.
Julien is a graduate of ESCP Europe, La Sorbonne University, Peking University and the French School of Oriental Studies. He is fluent in Mandarin, English, French and Spanish and has a working capacity in Japanese.
