Michael Blatt

Michael Blatt, PharmD has a diverse range of work experience in the healthcare industry. Michael started their career as a Clerk at Hughson Family Pharmacy in 2005. Michael later worked as a Drug Information Intern at UCSF Medical Center in 2010, where they interpreted and drafted prescription drug package inserts. In 2011, they joined Target as a Pharmacy Intern and later became a Graduate Intern Pharmacist and a Pharmacist.

Blatt then transitioned to the pharmaceutical industry, working as a Medical Information Intern at Actelion in 2012. Here, they updated medical information letters and developed a pharmacoeconomic journal database. Michael continued in this role until 2013.

In 2014, they returned to the healthcare sector and became a Clinical Pharmacist at Central California Alliance for Health. Michael managed the drug benefit and implemented clinical programs to improve patient outcomes and reduce costs. Blatt also served as the Interim Pharmacy Operations Manager during this time.

Blatt joined Quintiles/Janssen Pharmaceuticals in 2015 as a Clinical Science Specialist on a contract basis.

In 2016, they returned to Central California Alliance for Health as a Pharmacy Director. Here, they managed a substantial drug benefit budget and implemented clinical programs through different channels. Michael held this role until 2019.

In 2019, Blatt joined IEHP and initially served as the Director of Clinical Pharmacy Programs. Michael was later promoted to Director of Clinical Pharmacy and Operations. Michael led various strategic initiatives and managed multiple pharmacy business units, ensuring adherence to regulatory guidelines. Their accomplishments included overseeing a significant pharmaceutical spend and implementing cost-effective care delivery models.

Since 2017, Blatt has also been involved with the California Department of Health Care Services in various roles. Michael started as a Global DUR Board Member and was later promoted to Vice Chair. Currently, they serve as the Chair.

Michael Blatt, PharmD pursued their education at the University of California, Merced from 2007 to 2009, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Biological Sciences. Michael then attended the University of California, San Francisco from 2010 to 2014 and earned a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree specializing in Pharmacy. Additionally, they hold certifications as a Registered Pharmacist in both the State of California and the State of Nevada.
