Janina Narloch

Scientist at IFM Therapeutics

Janina Narloch has been working in the field of virology since 2010. Janina began their career as a Technician at the University College Cork in 2010, where they worked on a project involving Neuropeptide Y expression in the amygdala after valproic acid treatment. In 2011, they were a Student at the University of Regensburg, where they gained experience in molecular biological techniques, mouse models, FACS, TissueFAXS, epidemiology studies, Fly husbandry, genetic crosses, creating new fly strains using microinjection, Drosophila tissue culture, PCR, cloning, transient expression systems, confocal microscopy, s, and protein expression in E. coli.

In 2015, they were a Masters Student at the Academy of Science of the Czech Republic and the University of St Andrews, where they worked on a thesis involving the hCMV IE1 protein as a target for new anti-viral strategies. Janina also gained experience in virus stock production, hCMV tissue culture, stable cell line creation using lentiviruses, western blot, Real-Time PCR, and immunofluorescence.

In 2016, they were a PhD Student at the University of the West of Scotland, where they worked on HSV-1 latency and gained experience in virus stock production, stable cell line creation using lentiviruses (shRNA and protein expression), western blot, Real-Time PCR, and immunofluorescence.

Since 2018, Janina has been working at IFM Therapeutics as an Associate Scientist and Research Assistant.

Janina Narloch began their educational journey in 2009 when they attended Berufskolleg Hilden des Kreises Mettmann and earned their Biology-Technician degree in Molecular Biology. Janina then continued their studies at the University of Regensburg, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Molecular Medicine in 2014. Following this, Janina obtained a Masters degree in Molecular Medicine from the same institution in 2016. Janina then moved to the University of the West of Scotland, where they completed their Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in HSV/Virology, intrinsic immunity in 2018.
