Sebastian Wichert has a diverse work experience in the field of economics and research. Sebastian is currently the Head of Research Data Center (EBDC) and an Economist at the ifo Institute – Leibniz Institute for Economic Research since June 2017. Sebastian also served as the Deputy Director of the ifo Center for Industrial Organization and New Technologies from June 2020 to December 2021. Prior to that, they were a Research Assistant at LMU - Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München from April 2012 to June 2017. Sebastian also has experience as an Assistant Professor at LMU - Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München since January 2018. Sebastian has further contributed to their field as a Visiting Research Scholar at the University of Essex in 2016. Sebastian began their career as an Intern at E.CA Economics and Kempinski Hotel Airport Munich in 2011.

Sebastian Wichert began their education in 2007 at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, where they earned a Diplom-Volkswirt (~M.Sc.) degree in Economics in 2012. During their time at this university, they also spent a year studying Economics at the University of Bern from 2009 to 2010. After completing their undergraduate studies, Sebastian went on to pursue a postgraduate degree at the Munich Graduate School of Economics, where they obtained a Dr. oec. publ. (~Ph.D. in Economics) in 2018. With a strong educational background in Economics, Sebastian Wichert is well-equipped to delve into the field and apply their knowledge.
