Luke Zachmann is a Senior Data Scientist at Iggy. Luke was previously a Tech Lead and Senior IC at Airbnb, where they provided technical mentorship, leadership and delivery of data products across various subteams and central org for Homes and Pro Host Teams. Luke also led major analyses which influenced product development and strategic direction of data scientists. Zachmann was also a member of Airbnb's inaugural Tech Council which identified strategic areas of focus across Airbnb's entire tech org.
Before joining Airbnb, Zachmann was a Fellow at Insight Data Science, where they built dr-findr.com, a web-based app to help people compare and choose doctors. Luke utilized Python and MySQL to scrape, parse and store data and developed a model of doctor quality that incorporates numerous features including cost, reviews, experience and potential conflicts of interest. Luke deployed an interactive front end using Flask, Bootstrap and AWS.
Prior to Insight Data Science, Zachmann was a Visiting Young Scholar at DIW Berlin from September 2011 to June 2012. Luke earned their PhD in Government from Georgetown University in May 2015.
Luke Zachmann's educational career began at Bowdoin College, where they studied sociology and German. Luke then went on to Georgetown University, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy in government. After earning their PhD, they completed a master's degree in German and European studies at Georgetown University. Finally, they have a certification from Coursera in neural networks and deep learning.
They work with Anirudh Shah - Research Engineer, Alex Malokin - Data Scientist. Luke Zachmann reports to Anne Cocos, Director, Data Science.
