Derek Gallo

Derek Gallo has a strong background in engineering, software development, and management. Currently, they serve as the Vice President of Engineering at Igloo Software, where they are responsible for leading the development of a modernized version of their intranet platform. Derek oversees the entire software development lifecycle and manages the development teams, hiring processes, and budgeting. Previously, Derek held the position of Vice President of Systems Architecture at EverFi, where they managed the platform architecture and implemented best practices for quality, security, and compliance. Derek also directly managed and mentored multiple engineering teams. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Highwinds, where they focused on converting a legacy web application to a mobile-friendly solution and re-architecting the RESTful public API. Derek also served as the Managing Director of R&D at Avectra, where they provided strategic technical direction for the development of a web-based social media platform. Before that, they were the Chief Technology Officer and Managing Partner at NFi Studios, where they led the design and development of a private social networking platform, eventually leading to its acquisition by Avectra. Derek Gallo received their high school education from John I Leonard, where they completed their Diploma in Computer Programming in the year 2000. Derek later attended the University of Central Florida from 2000 to 2004 and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science.
