Sam Barrett

Researcher (climate Adaptation), Climate Change at International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED)

Sam Barrett is an experienced researcher specializing in climate adaptation and finance, currently working at the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) since November 2015. In this role, Sam focuses on private investment in climate adaptation, integrating climate information services into development programming, and evaluating the effectiveness of adaptation finance at local government levels, with a specific emphasis on Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, and India. Previous experience includes research positions at Perspectives Climate Group, where Sam contributed to Saudi Arabia's UNFCCC Intended Nationally Determined Contributions, and at the Met Office, exploring the economic value of local climate information products. Sam's academic credentials include a PhD in Adaptation Finance from Trinity College Dublin and an MSc in International Relations, Environment and Development from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
